Rome

35 °C

Howdy,

We will be leaving Rome today to head back to Paris (which has much cooler, nicer weather!!). We have enjoyed our stay here a lot. We FINALLY got a hotel with air conditioning!!! We were soooo excited. Yesterday we went to Vatican City and went in St Peters Basilica, which was amazing. The day before, we walked around the ruins and the Colleseum, and then got a walking tour of the city. Today we are checking out a few sites that we missed. Losing our travel books has been rough, because we sometimes dont really know what we are looking at.
I bought the new Harry Potter book yesterday and have already starting reading it! Yipee! It will be nice to have it on the plane ride home.

Florence

sunny 35 °C

Hello Everyone!

We have been in Florence for 2 days now, and tomorrow we will leave for Rome. Today we rented mountain bikes and rode out into the Tuscan hillsides outside of the city. Our whole trip was 22 miles, and we are SO tired now...it was worth it though. We got up into the hills where they make wine and olive oil, it was very cool to see.
Florence is a great city, lots of shopping here. It is still very hot, but not humid like Venice. We are really starting to look forward to the cooler weather at home. Hopefully we will be able to write again from Rome. See you all soon!

Change of plans!

sunny 37 °C

Hello everyone. So we decided to cut Aosta out of our trip(to much travel and stress involved). So we are now in Florence, we arrived this afternoon. We will be in Florence until Sunday and then on to Rome through Tuesday. Yesterday was our last day in Venice and we explored the surronding islands and went to the beach. James was excited to wear his speedo. We thought Venice was very beautiful and enjoyed it very much. We are taking lots of pictures and are excited to show you all. We have decided not to send postcards because our address book was aboard the lost backpack.

To answer some questions........

Yes, Heather we are getting you a present.
Yes, we are able to shower....it was so hot in Venice that we took a few showers each day....no AC is pretty brutal.
The temperature in Florence today is about 100 degrees.

We'll write again soon, it's much cheaper to use internet here!

Jen and James

Venice

sunny 31 °C

We arrived this morning in Venice. We took the train last night and it took 13 hours from Paris. Because this is a busy time of year, we were only able to reserve a 2nd class cabin. It was close quarters.....sharing with 4 other people, but we had a tiny bed and actually got a little sleep.
Venice is beautiful, and we both agree that it is the coolest place we have ever been. No cars here, only boats to get aroud. It is HOT, it feels like we are back in Florida.....except no strip malls...just beautiful scenery.

Thanks for all the messages youve been sending us!

Hello Everyone!

Yesterday we went on an all day trip to Normandy and it was amazing! We stopped at many different important sites: Pegusus Bridge, Omaha Beach Memorial, and Pont du Hoc. The whole trip was a really great experience. Today is Bastille Day; and we plan to go to the Louvre; and also see some other sites. This keyboard is difficult to type on because all the letters are in different places!
